Robert Swaney Consulting announces executive placement for The Detroit Symphony Orchestra

Robert Swaney Consulting assisted the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to place Danielle Manley as Director of Advancement for Institutional Giving following a competitive national search that included a wide range of impressive candidates.

“The Detroit Symphony has been a longtime RSC partner and we were eager to assist in this search to find a highly-qualified candidate in Danielle,” said Bob Swaney, RSC’s Founder and CEO.

As the DSO’s Director of Advancement for Institutional Giving, Manley will lead the efforts to raise over $5 million in annual operating funds as well as additional sponsorship and event support for DSO tours, New Year’s Eve concert, Classical Roots Celebration and the Heroes Gala. The DSO’s support from corporations, businesses, foundations and public sources is among the largest at any American orchestra.

“With a loyal community of supporters, strong leadership, and world-class musicians, the DSO is a trifecta of success, and I am honored to be joining such a dynamic and innovative organization,” said Manley.

Manley recently relocated to Detroit from Louisville where she worked for six years at Kentucky’s most prestigious performing arts organization, Actors Theatre of Louisville, which has an $11 million budget and is known internationally for the Humana Festival of New American Plays. In Manley’s most recent role with the organization, she served as Associate Director of Development, Institutional Partnerships where she achieved year-on-year growth in institutional revenue with a special emphasis on new or increased corporate support. Her track record of fundraising success and cross-departmental collaboration included a leadership role in developing new programming streams and developing tools to track and measure success. Manley earned lasting relationships with community leaders in the civic, governmental, non-profit, philanthropic and corporate sectors as the result of deliberate cultivation and participation in community events and partnerships.

A native of Floyds Knobs, Ind., she holds a Bachelor of Arts, Communication and Culture degree from Indiana University.
